Representations and expectations of college students from the PALOP

Objectives: This project studies the sociocultural context that characterises the life of college students from the PALOP studying at the universities of Braga. The study aims at: (i) knowing the number of college students from the PALOP in Braga and their evolution in the past few years; (ii) describing their socioeconomical life contexts in Portugal; (iii) identifying the difficulties experienced in their academic life; (iv) understanding the weaknesses of their integration in the university and in the local community. This data base collection will offer the chance to analyse the way the academies integrate their students from the PALOP and the problems that occur in their integration process; on the other hand, we will be able to understand if the academic route suits the expectations and capacities of the students from the PALOP.
