On January 1 2015, the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA) began its activity, as well as all its Poles, namely the one located at the University of Minho (CICS.NOVA.UMinho).
CICS.NOVA is a scientific Research Unit (RU) with an interdisciplinary character in the field of Social Sciences. Its head office is located at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-UNOVA). Its units are spread throughout the country, namely at the Universities of Minho, Azores and Évora, as well as at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria.
CICS.NOVA.UMinho has a wider outreach than the former Research Centre for the Social Sciences, which developed its activity between 2007 and 2014, and was exclusively located at the University of Minho. Both the history and production of the Research Centre for the Social Sciences, which is prior to the current Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences – University of Minho, is available in the archive and covers the period between 2007 and 2014.
The Researchers of CICS.NOVA.UMinho integrate the following Research Groups (RG): “Social Inequalities and Public Action“, “Citizenship, Work and Technology“, “Cities, Environment and Regional Development“, “Health, Population and Well-Being“, “Modelling and Planning Systems” and “Education, Knowledge and Culture“, working cooperatively with the researchers of the Headquarters and of the others CICS.NOVA units.
